The trouser uses a high abrasion-resistant Ripstop outer material made from softshell and polyester, giving a useful balance of durability and flexibility. The Richa ACS ventilation system uses large zippered panels to help airflow when conditions warm up, while the fixed Richa LTZ waterproof membrane helps keep wet weather out.

The Colorado 3 trousers are AA rated and fitted with Level 1 D3O limb protection, with the option to upgrade to Level 2.
